A NATURAL OINTMENT FOR WOUND HEALING: COMBINING SHEEP TAIL FAT, HONEY, BEESWAX, AND HERBAL INGREDIENTS

Wound care is the third most costly medical challenge globally, following cancer and cardiovascular diseases. With the growing prevalence of various types of wounds, there is a continuous and increasing need for rapid and effective treatments, particularly those based on natural compounds. Beyond the support of the World Health Organization (WHO) for such approaches, the use of natural products (of both plant and animal origin) that are well tolerated by patients and free of significant side effects is now a clear priority. Iran, with its diverse ecological and climatic conditions, is uniquely positioned as a major producer of medicinal plants and various natural products. The primary goal of this invention is to utilize natural ingredients—including sheep tail fat, beeswax, wild pistachio resin, castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, turmeric, and honey—to develop an ointment formulation designed to promote the healing of various skin wounds, prevent keloid formation, and provide antibacterial and antifungal effects at the site of application. Key features and innovations of this ointment formulation compared to similar domestic and international products include its carefully selected natural ingredients, lack of side effects associated with conventional chemical drugs, the ready availability and local sourcing of most components, and its very low production cost.
