A ceramic filter assembly (9) hard to cause cracking therein, comprising a plurality of columnar honeycomb filters (F1) formed of porous ceramic sintered bodies which are formed integrally with each other through ceramic seal material layers so as to have a generally elliptic cross sectional shape, the plurality of honeycomb filters further comprising square pole-shaped honeycomb filters having the ratio of the long side lengths to the short side lengths thereof is 1.1 to 3.0, wherein the honeycomb filter is disposed so that the long sides and short sides of the honeycomb filters are parallel with the long diameter and the short diameter of the assembly.
