A display device includes: a display panel including a display area and a component area surrounded by the display area and including light sensor areas; and an optical element on a rear surface of the component area, the display area including: a transistor on a substrate, a first electrode on the transistor, a pixel defining layer overlapping a portion of the first electrode, a light emitting layer overlapping the first electrode, and a second electrode on the light emitting layer, the light sensor area including: a metal line on the substrate, an extension portion extending from the first electrode, an insulating layer between the metal line and the extension portion, the pixel defining layer on the extension portion and including a first opening, and a second electrode on the pixel defining layer, the extension portion overlapping at least a portion of the metal line in a plan view.
