ENERGY STORAGE APPARATUS

Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain a rotary unit in a rotating state permanently for a long time and store an energy in the rotary unit efficiently by a method wherein the rotary unit is made to float in the air in a high vacuum chamber by the large pinning force of an oxide high temperature superconductor which is in a superconducting state. CONSTITUTION:A disc-shaped permanent magnet 3 is fixed to the power surface of a heavy weight unit 2 in a vacuum chamber 6 to compose a rotary unit 13 which is placed on a heat insulating container 4. In this state, when a high temperature superconductor 1 is in a superconducting state, the heavy weight unit 2 to which the disc-shaped permanent magnet 3 is fixed is made to float and can rotate around a center axis without touching the heat insulating container 4. Air in the vacuum chamber 6 is evacuated by a decompressor 8 to maintain the inside in a high vacuum state in order to avoid attenuation of the rotating force of the rotary unit 12 caused by friction given by the air. If a motor 10 is made to rotate by an external power for a certain time and then the power supply is discontinued, a shaft 9, the heavy weight unit 2 and the disc-shaped permanent magnet 3 attached to it are kept on rotating for along time and the power can be stored as a kinetic energy.
