The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for improving the accuracy of coating ceramic or metal honeycomb bodies, which are typically used as catalysts to reduce vehicle exhaust. The present disclosure allows for direct testing of whether the coating in the coating chamber is ready for delivery to a monolith or needs to be replaced before coating the monolith.
