Foldable bicycle

Abstract

A bicycle 10 comprises a frame comprising four bar elements, first, second, third and fourth bar elements (14, 20, 24, 36) are pivotally connected to the second, third, fourth & third bar elements respectively by first, second, third and fourth hinges (22, 26, 38, 40). A front axle protrudes from the third bar element 24 for mounting a front wheel 28, a rear axle protrudes from the first bar element 14 for mounting a rear wheel 16. The fourth hinge 40 is disposed rear of the rear axle, a handlebar 34 is attached to the third bar element 24, and a crank is disposed on the first bar element 14. To fold the bicycle, the first hinge 22 is raised towards the fourth bar element 36, bringing the front 28 and rear wheel16 closer together. Castor wheels 32, 42 may be mounted to allow the bicycle to be towed when folded.
