An example folding device includes a first housing and a second housing. The folding device further includes a flex display spanning at least part of the first housing and the second housing and a hinge assembly rotatably connected to the first housing and the second housing. The hinge assembly includes a first hinge bracket connected to the first housing, the first hinge bracket defining an outer curved channel and a hinge barrel defining an inner curved channel. The hinge assembly further includes a scoop having a first curved end configured to slide within the outer curved channel and a second curved end configured to slide within the inner curved channel, and wherein the first curved end of the scoop defines a scoop axis with a virtual pivot located exterior to the first curved end of the scoop.
