INTRAVENOUS LINE STRAP WITH DISLODGEMENT PROTECTION

Abstract

[0000] An intravenous (IV) cartridge assembly can reduce or prevent dislodgement of IV lines from patients receiving fluids via IV administration. The IV cartridge assembly includes an anchor that couples the IV cartridge assembly to patients, an internal channel configured to receive the IV line, a roller wheel that rolls on top of the IV line along a tapered track in the IV cartridge assembly, and a protrusion in the internal channel that raises the IV line into the path of the roller wheel. In its default position, the roller wheel does not interfere with fluid flow through the IV line. However, when a large enough force is applied to the IV line, the roller wheel rolls along the IV line towards the protrusion and pinches the IV line against the protrusion to occlude the IV line. This occlusion can trigger an alarm calls a caregiver to reset the IV line.
