Systems and methods for a multi-display electronic device with close detection are provided. The electronic device includes a first display, a second display and a first touch sensor having a sensing area. The electronic device also includes a first portion comprising the first touch sensor and the first display and a second portion comprising a plurality of features. The electronic device further includes a processing system configured to: generate an acquired image from at least a portion of the sensing area and compare the acquired image to a reference image. The reference image includes data corresponding to the plurality of features. The processing system is further configured to determine whether the input device is in the closed state based on the comparison of the acquired image to the reference image; and modify an operating mode of the first display and the second display based on the determination of whether the input device is in the closed state.
