Porous ceramic material

Abstract

A porous ceramic material being a sinter of a quartz matrix with a glass binder, characterized in that it consists of 70-80% by weight of quartz grains being the product of thermal transformation of low-temperature quartz originating from alluvium and diluvium of the Quaternary period into tridymite, wherein the transformation has taken place in at least 80%, connected by glass constituting 20-30% by weight of the material, wherein the material grains have irregular shapes with characteristic sharp edges and are connected to each other essentially by their peaks and edges, and the specific gravity of the material is from 1.20 to 1.45 g/cm3 and depends on the grain size, which is 5-500 pm.
