QUICK DETACH KEYED ROTARY DRIVE COUPLER FOR UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE

Abstract

[0000] Techniques are presented for rapidly installing and removing propeller assemblies of unmanned aerial vehicles. Coaxial motor drives allow a coaxial set of propeller assemblies to mount using a locking pin with a captive spring and handle for actuation of an engagement mechanism such as a ball or cam lock. A propellor or other effector mounting hub includes with features, such as a ramp or screw for example, to translate between locked and unlocked positions. The propeller assemblies drive are keyed to be mounted in correspondingly keyed motor assemblies by use of indexing features such as pins or other geometry to act as drive keying for the propeller assembly.
