TECHNIQUES FOR LOW-COMPLEXITY JOINT ANTENNA GROUP (JAG) FORMATION WITH ANALOG BEAMFORMING OF DISCRETE ANTENNAS

Abstract

[0000] Example implementations include low-complexity antenna group formation in analog beamforming with discrete or uni-polarized antennas in wireless communication systems. In one implementation, the UE may receive an indication that includes antenna beamforming information associated with multiple antenna elements across multiple antenna layers. The UE may further configure one or both of a phase shifter or an amplitude control for each of the multiple antenna elements. In another implementation, a network entity may identify, based on UE hardware capability information, antenna beamforming information including the one or more virtual antenna modules, where each of the one or more virtual antenna modules forming an antenna grouping from one or both of a phase shifter or an amplitude control for each antenna element. The network entity may further transmit, to the UE, an indication that includes the antenna beamforming information associated with multiple antenna elements across multiple antenna layers.
